It was the summer of 1502, and Cesare Borgia found himself having to defend and fortify his possessions in the new state of Romagna. For this reason, he called the best engineer and architect known at the time: Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo departed for his visit and stay in Romagna accompanied by the small pocket notebook today cataloged as the Codice di Francia Manoscritto L, on which he noted step by step, as a curious traveler, his sketches, ideas, inventions and considerations on Romagna.
Leonardo's bond with Romagna is so strong and present that today an ideal journey in his company can be followed through the cities he visited during his Romagna period. In fact, we have dedicated the Romagna Selection to this period of Genius, strongly characterized by his encounter with the territory and with its agricultural and architectural aspects. 1502 da Vinci in Romagna is the collection that celebrates wines that come from the best Romagna vineyards; a special tour in the cities visited by the Genius, which touches places rich in beauty: those that Leonardo captured in the drawings made at each stage of his journey and shown on the label.
